A Dangerous Fossil
By John J. Delaney
A Dangerous Fossil is one for all Jurassic Coast, fossil and crime fiction fans and it is my turn on the Random T. Tours blog tour for this debut novel, which is ‘A Jurassic Jemma Mystery’. Find out more about it in the blurb and what I thought of it in my review below.

Blurb
Fossils aren’t dangerous, are they?
Jemma didn’t think so.
When ‘Jurassic’ Jemma Thorne and her dog, Dino, find an incredible fossil on a Dorset beach, she doesn’t realise that it will lead to a trail of greed, jealousy and murder.
As the guilt of her past comes back to haunt her, Jemma must fight to protect her family, her friends, her town and herself. Can she overcome her demons and escape from the danger surrounding her?
Review
Set on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, England, it starts with a diagram of a plesiosaurus macrocephalus, to hook in fans of the Jurassic period. A fossil, so pretty harmless. Or so Jemma thinks, a fossil hunter. Much excitement and talk abound about the find, across the Ango-American folk with her.
I rather like the very different location and premise, which seems perfectly plausible for a murder to occur. It’ll widen readers scope as they get to know the area and Jemma, Brad, Chrissie, Anna and Laura’s police team. Readers need not worry about wondering who is who or character number, it is all written in an easy to follow manner. Tensions rise and jealousy begins to flow out and lives are at risk. It suddenly seems that hunting for fossils may be more dangerous than anyone ever thought.
The heightening of suspense turns a slow burn into a pacy, immersive page turner. It’s a strong debut novel that’s clearly going to turn into a series and one worth readers following, going by this one. It not only sets the scene well, with its mix of paleontology and crime, so what emerges is a full, suspenseful thriller.
